Information about the College and campus activities will come to you in a variety of forms. Please take advantage of those listed below to help keep you informed about the College.

1600grand Portal

The 1600grand portal is a one-stop, customizable information and communication source. All members of the Macalester community have secured, personalized access to it. On the portal you can find a variety of topics including:

  • Articles and links to most of the college's offical publications (including the college Bulletin - the "Daily Piper")
  • Various events and academic calendars
  • Links to the college library's online databases
  • For college employees, personalized employment information (pay stubs, leave balances, benefit information)
  • For administrators, access to various reporting tools and the Banner ERP
  • For faculty, access to class listings, gradebooks, and other teaching resources
  • For students, financial aid information, grades, and other student specific information systems

Bulletin

A newsletter for faculty and staff is published on-line by the College Relations Office on Fridays, weekly during the academic year and bi-weekly during the summer. Anyone with information for College faculty and staff may submit it to the Bulletin; contact College Relations for procedures and deadlines.

Convocations

Programs are held in the Weyerhaeuser Chapel. Dates and times will be publicized. Convocations include local, national and international speakers, artistic performances, panel presentations, community forums, and opportunity for public discussion. Faculty, staff, students, and campus departments and organizations are encouraged to contribute programs to this series.

Other Publications

Information about college activities may be found in other publications. These include the Mac Weekly, the student newspaper published on Fridays during the academic year; the Today, a daily information sheet produced through the Dean of Students' office. Many other campus publications exist and are published periodically throughout the year.

Macalester Today
