English 120: Intro to Creative Writing (Lemon)

M/W/F 9:40-10:40 am, Old Main 011

We will write! We will read! The focus of this course will be on the development of skills for writing poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction through the study and discussion of the techniques involved in these forms, analysis of model literary works, and near-daily writing exercises. The course will use anthologies of poetry, short stories and essays and will be supplemented by more contemporary writing.  Students registering for this course should be able to demonstrate that they have done some previous writing of poetry or fiction, either through previous writing classes or on their own.
