English 282-01: Crafts of Writing: Nonfiction (Dawes)

This course is an introduction to writing creative nonfiction. We will use a variety of exercises, assignments, and readings to help students become comfortable as writers of memoirs, journalism, personal essays, and cultural criticism. We will read and discuss works by established authors to uncover some of the techniques they have used to make their writing effective, and we will workshop each other's writing in a supportive, constructively critical manner.
