Spring 2008 Courses
English 406-01: Projects in Creative Writing (Lee)
T/TH 1:00-2:30pm, CARN 206
This course will be run as an advanced workshop in writing short stories. To make sure we have the same critical vocabulary, we will begin by discussing a text about writing and a short story collection.
Each student will present four short stories in class. The first two will be between 6-12 pages, and the next two will be between 12-20 pages. One of the longer stories may be a substantial revision and extension of one of the shorter stories or of a piece that was written in a previous workshop.
Literary fiction only, no genre work, i.e., science fiction, fantasy, detective fiction, horror, romance, young adult fiction, children's literature, etc.
*First day attendance required* Prerequisites: Introduction to Creative Writing and Crafts of Writing: Fiction; permission of instructor or English Deptartment chair required.
