1. Talloires Declaration
The attendance for the EnviroThursday forum regarding the Talloires Declaration was 52. There were some new faces in the crowd. There were a number of questions generated from the audience including whether the Talloires Declaration would require curriculum changes.
At the last faculty meeting, Al Romero informed the faculty that the implementation of the declaration would have an impact on campus life but CEIC would not be a police force looking over their shoulder. Al Romero will be setting the date for the President to sign the declaration. There was talk on whether to get others to sign the declaration such as Board of Trustee members, faculty, and students.
2. Other
Al Romero mentioned that two Board of Trustee members will be attending the next meeting. A copy of the Talloires Declaration and Proposed Implementation Plan will be sent to them before the meeting.
There was a discussion on creating an environmental staff position or perhaps have a member of the faculty who would do this part-time. Problems were mentioned that would be encountered whether it was a staff position or a part-time faculty position
Next meeting will be on April 13 at 4 p.m. in Olin-Rice 270.
