Submissions will be judged based on:
- Interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues.
- Accuracy of the factual information presented.
- Quality and clarity of the ideas expressed.
Macalester Environmental Review will post individual journal articles
as soon as they make it through the review, editing, and author-proofreading process.
Authors are free to contact the
Editor-in-Chief prior submission to receive advice on the suitability of themes
proposed. Given that Macalester Environmental Review intends to attract authors from a wide range of
disciplines, we encourage different writing styles regarding citation methods
(parenthesis, footnotes, endnotes, etc.), as long as it is consistent throughout the text
and ensures that readers will be able to locate the sources. Hyperlinks are welcomed.
This
is aimed to both encourage interdisciplinary participation and to facilitate expression of
ideas according to citation methods that are more commonly used in the
author(s) own
field of work. Articles will be posted on Macalester Environmental Review's web site.
Articles will
be made available in HTML format. It will be linked to other databases, such as the
National Library for the Environment, an initiative of the Committee for the National Institute of the Environment.
Macalester College is a charter
member of this Committee. At the present time there is no charge to authors or readers for
this service. This will ensure easy access and widespread communication of ideas.
As
articles are posted, announcements will be sent via our mailing list to alert potential
readers.
