Class of 2005
Katie Dietrich
I chose to be an ES major because it provides an interdisciplinary approach to complex issues, the environment is a huge part of my life, and you have great discussions.
After graduation I will be teaching high school science for a year at my high school and then head off to graduate school probably for geography with an emphasis on water resources. |

Hanne Eastwood
I became an ES major because I love to spend time outside, and I am concerned about what is happening to the natural world and in turn the negative impact on vulnerable human populations.
After graduation I am taking a year off, and then I plan to attend law school. |
|

Erik Hankin
I became an ES major because I wanted to make a difference in the world.
After graduation, I plan on working in environmental education. |
|

Nora Hilty
I became an ES major because I just followed my interests. Before I even really knew that the program existed, I had completed more than half the requirements.
After graduation, I don't have a particular career path in mind. I just want to do something that will do people and the earth some good. I might work in urban agriculture for a while initially. |
|

Ana Murteira
I became an ES major because I have wanted to be an environmentalist since elementary school, and I consider caring for the environment to be a top priority in my life.
This summer I will be doing a GIS internship. Then I plan on getting a job for next year and apply for graduate school. |
|

Rina Rossi
I became an ES major largely to pursue my interest in sustainable agriculture.
After I graduate? I don't have any set plans yet. I've been writing too many papers to think about it. I suppose I will bake bread, maybe make my own ravioli, exercise more, go on walks, do some canning perhaps, read novels...Beyond that, this summer I'm working with the Youth Farm and Market Project, and at some point I hope to return to Ecuador and see more of South America too. I would like to visit my host family again and help out with the planting and harvesting. I may work on some organic farms for a while, and eventually go to grad school in something! Who knows!

Erin Schobe
I became an ES major because I wanted to incorporate its philosophies about sustainable living and social justice into my own life.
After graduation I plan on working for a year or two and then get either a law degree or a degree in public policy. |
|

Anna Sumchenko
I decided to become an ES major because I care about the environment and I wanted to learn how to solve some of the current environmental issues.
After graduation, my current plan is to move to Washington, DC, and search for a job in that area. Once I find a job, I plan to work for a year and then apply to masters programs in public policy or international relations.

I because an ES major because I had taken a bunch of classes out of general interest that brought me close to the major.
