The Southern section of the Macalester prairie borders the Athletic
Fields and receives full southern sun exposure. The southernmost edge
also receives some water from the Athletic Field sprinklers, making the
soil slightly more moist. This section has the steepest slope and the
thickest concentration of plants. Along its southernmost portion are
very tall plants, including five foot tall Brown Eyed Susans.
Brown Eyed Susans, Canada Milkvetches, Stiff Goldenrods, and Nodding Onions are visible within this section.
