Family Fest

Family Fest 2011 - October 14-16

Hello families, host families, and friends!

Family Fest is a time for families to reconnect with their student and experience a bit of campus life and the surrounding community. We are delighted to host you for Family Fest 2011. On the left navigation of this website you will find a schedule of events, hotel information, recommended restaurants, and off-campus twin city events and suggestions to begin planning your weekend.

Do We Need to Register for Anything?

We recommend you register and pay online for the 5k run/walk and the St. Paul Public Art Tour and dinner if you are interested in those Saturday events. There is no formal registration for other Family Fest events. We have a check-in for families on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning in the Campus Center Atrium where family members can pick up an information packet about the weekend and staff will be available to answer questions. If room is available, you can sign-up for the art tour and dinner event and the run/walk on site when you arrive. Online registration for these events will be available at the end of July.

Educational Opportunities

For those able to begin the weekend Thursday, October 13th, the Institute for Global Citizenship will be hosting an International Roundtable during the weekend with the theme Children of the World: The Dialectic of Promise and Vulnerability. (More information will be available on the Institute for Global Citizenship website at the end of the summer.) In addition a faculty lecture, student panel, a student research symposium, and other educational sessions have been planned during the weekend. Parents are asked not to attend Friday classes unless their student has received advance permission from the professor.

Even if you can't come to family fest, please submit a recipe for the family fest cookbook that will be distributed to all who attend and available online in October!
