To apply for financial aid as an Regular Decision candidate, complete the steps below.

Financial Aid PROFILE

  •  Visit profileonline.collegeboard.com to complete the College Scholarship Service Financial Aid PROFILE.  Include Macalester's code (6390) in the school release section..
  • If your biological/adoptive parents are separated or divorced, your noncustodial parent must complete the CSS Noncustodial PROFILE.  If applicable, you will receive details about the Noncustodial PROFILE service as part of the PROFILE process.  College Scholarship Service will send you an e-mail message which contains information about the Noncustodial PROFILE service and a temporary password for your noncustodial parent.  You should forward this e-mail message to your noncustodial parent upon receipt.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • File the FAFSA and include Macalester’s code (002358) in the school section. 
  • Paper FAFSAs are available in high school guidance offices, at public libraries, and in college/university financial aid offices. 
  • You may file the FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • If you have already filed a FAFSA but did not list Macalester in the school section, click here for instructions.
Tax Returns

Please note: all tax return documents should be submitted to the College Board Institutional Documentation Service (IDOC).  You will receive IDOC instructions when you complete your Financial Aid PROFILE.  Always attach the IDOC cover sheet which will be supplied by the IDOC service and is available on the IDOC web site.
  • Parents’ signed 2007 federal tax return (with all schedules and W2 forms). 
  • Student's signed 2007 federal tax return and W2 form(s) (if you will not file a 2007 federal tax return, complete a non-filer statement, available from the IDOC web site).
