Concentration
A major concentration in French consists of a minimum of nine courses
beyond French 204 to include:
- two advanced required courses (306 or the equivalent and 488)
- seven advanced courses of which two must cover periods before
the 20th century);
- a senior seminar with the senior capstone requirement;
- three supporting courses outside the French and Francophone
Studies department;
- an appropriate study abroad program as approved by the department
beforehand
The three supporting courses must be chosen to complement each
student's program and in consultation with a faculty member of the
French and Francophone Studies department.
Senior Assessment
During the senior year, majors will be required to demonstrate
proficiencies in language, literature and culture by successfully
completing a series of evaluations as outlined in departmental materials.
