30: In the 1920s Curtis's Northwest Airport was located at
the southeast corner of Snelling and Larpenteur. There were several
of these small airports during the 1920's. Most were converted to
residential communities, but at the time no one was sure which field
would be dominant. Eventually Northwest Orient Airlines emerged at
Holman Field in downtown St. Paul. It soon out grew out of the St.
Paul field and moved to the Wold-Chamberlain Field which became the
Twin Cities International Airport. |
