This site tells the story of Lake Mille Lacs, with a heavy focus on a few major issues. The first of these is the very condensed basic human and physical history of the Lake Mille Lacs site. The second issue is the history and significance of treaties and political agreements made between the Mille Lacs band of Ojibwe and the United States Government. Finally, the third issue is the history and significance of tourism and leisure management in and around the Lake, and the economic and developmental issues surrounding them. The two primary pull factors today for tourism at the Lake are the Mille Lacs Grand Casino and the Lake's fishery are addressed in separate sections. This site's geographic focus is primarily on the west and south shores of the lake, from Garrison to Isle.
