Currently registered students may use medical services at the Macalester Health & Wellness Center
as needed during their academic career at Macalester. There is no
charge to see a nurse, nurse practitioner or doctor for most procedures/appointments at the Macalester Health & Wellness Center (HWC).
In addition to office visits for diagnosis, treatment or care, we also
draw blood and collect other specimens for most laboratory tests which
are sent out to a laboratory on a daily basis. Over-the-counter (OTC) and
prescription medications are available at HWC, and there
is a pharmacy located
across the street from campus as well as
multiple national drugstore chains in the area. For student convenience, there is a vending machine in the Leonard Center that offers common self-care and OTC products. Please note that
there are charges for prescription medications and laboratory tests ordered by the HWC staff and certain services (ex: physicals).
Students are encouraged to call ahead (651.696.6275) for appointments
or to discuss their health concerns with one of the staff.
