The State of Minnesota
and Macalester College require specific immunizations for students
registering at the college. After acceptance to Macalester College,
all new students will receive a health history and physical form
that includes an immunization record. This form must be completed
and signed by your health care provider before you will be able
to attend classes.
The following immunizations are required:
- Tetanus-diphtheria
- Dates of your childhood primary series of immunizations
- Date of your last booster (within the last 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
- Date of first immunization given at 15 months after birth
or later
- Date of second immunization given after 5 years of age.
- Separate Measles, Mumps, Rubella immunizations (if you did not
receive MMR):
- Measles immunized with live measles vaccine at 15 months
after birth or later, with second measles vaccine at 5 years of age.
- Mumps (immunized with vaccine at 12 months after birth or
later
- Rubella (immunized with vaccine at 12 months after birth
or later)
- Tuberculin skin test given within the past 3 months {PPD/Mantoux};
Tine or Monovac not acceptable.We must have the date the test
was given, the date it was read, and the result as negative or
positive with the reading in mm, and your health care provider's
signature. If the TB test is positive, the written results of
a current chest x-ray are required. Internationational students' PPD's will be done at Macalester during orientation.
The following immunizations are strongly recommended but not
required:
- The Hepatitis B vaccine-3 shot series
- Meningitis vaccine-1 shot
recommended for those living in dorms
- Varicella vaccine-2 shot series for those who haven't had chicken
pox*
- HPV (human papilloma virus) for women aged 26 and under - 3 shot series
Please be sure to include the month/day/year of each immunization
on the health form.
