Eating Concerns

Macalester College is committed to supporting the personal growth and development of our students who struggle with eating and body image concerns. We believe that a student's health directly impacts his or her ability to fully enjoy the Macalester experience and we seek to help students create an awareness and set of behaviors that contribute to their own personal wellness.

The Health & Wellness Center has developed service guidelines and identified resources for students and families who are seeking to address eating concerns—including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, compulsive exercising, and obesity. We recognize that a multidisplinary approach is the most effective way to address the complexity of this issue and encourage students and their families to consult the specialty organizations listed in our resources. The Health & Wellness Center staff is willing to assist individuals in accessing these resources and to provide supportive services as appropriate. The Dean of Students Office is also available for referrals and support.
