Physical Activity Classes and Events

Ongoing Physical Activity Classes

Open to students only. Register for free physical activity classes that focus on the mind and body connection.  The six-week classes begin during the week of March 23 and end during the week of April 27, 2015.

Registration opens on Saturday, March 14, 2015.  Email to register. Due to spring break, response to sign-up requests may take one or two days.  Please be patient.  Space is limited. You will receive a confirming email with class location if you are enrolled in the class. 

Circuit Training
This class is an invigorating circuit workout using body weight resistance.  All levels are welcome and the workout will vary weekly.  Each circuit training class will begin and end with a yoga portion for a warm up and cool down.  Class location is Studio 2.

Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Lindy Hop
Lindy Hop is a popular social dance featured at many venues around the Twin Cities. It’s an upbeat, rhythm in your feet, swinging kind of living, danced to the irresistible jazzy tunes of the early 1900s. In this class, we’ll start from scratch and work our way up. No dance partner required. Anyone can choose to learn to lead or follow, whichever you’re most comfortable with. All levels are welcome, whether it’s your first-time dancing or you’re a Broadway star, come learn something new and have a ball.

Jazz Dance
Jazz is a technique-based, energy-intensive form of dance that leaves lots of room for individual style. We'll begin each class with stretching and body conditioning to make sure everyone is fully warmed up, then we'll move across the floor learning new steps. Class will conclude with a combination in the center of the floor. We'll move to dynamic music from various different genres. All levels are welcome, so don't be intimidated by lack of experience! Everyone can dance - dancers are just the people who realize it.  Class location is Studio 2.

Yoga Sculpt -
Yoga Sculpt is a high-energy workout that adds free weights to a power yoga sequence to sculpt the entire body. This mind-body class tones and strengthens every muscle through yoga and body-weight movements. Set to the beat of dynamic music, this all-levels workout is taught by a Corepower Yoga Sculpt certified teacher and will leave you coming back for more!  Class location is Studio 2.

Thursdays, 8:15 - 9:00 pm

Increase strength, flexibility, and body awareness, and leave feeling more calm and refreshed.  Mats are available or feel free to bring your own.

Wednesdays, 9:00 - 10:00 pm

This fun and high-energy dance class will be taught by two enthusiastic girls who love to dance! We will be incorporating styles from around the world, such as Latin, hip hop, belly dancing, Bollywood, Persian, and maybe even some throwbacks to the 1970s and 1980s. We are so excited to be teaching the class, and we want everyone to have fun and feel comfortable. All levels are welcome. Don't feel intimidated - come out and dance with us.  Class location is Studio 1.

There are also several classes that are offered during the noon hour through WHAM programs. These six-week classes have a $20 student registration fee. Registration begins March 12 at Health and Wellness Center for these classes or pay and register online.
