Ongoing Physical Activity Classes

Research has shown the undeniably positive effects of exercise on mental health.

Open to students only. Register for free physical activity classes that focus on the mind and body connection.  The six-week classes begin during the week of September 12, 2016.

Registration opens on Tuesday, August 30, 2016.   Space is limited. You will receive a confirming email with class location if you are enrolled in the class. 

Circuit Training
This class is an invigorating circuit workout using body weight resistance.  All levels are welcome and the workout will vary weekly.  Each circuit training class will begin and end with a yoga portion for a warm up and cool down.

Mondays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Dance Conditioning 
The class will consist of stretch, dance based conditioning exercises, across the floor, and a fun jazz or contemporary style combo at the end. Open to the both experienced and non experienced dancers! Wear comfortable movement clothes and bring either socks or jazz shoes for the second half of class.

Fitness for Beginners (begins Sunday, 9/18)
This class will provide different exercises for people who are new to physical activity or haven't done it in a while. The class begins with an easy level and builds throughout the semester.The exercises focus on core and stretching. Music, hard work, sweating, fun. Even though the class is designed for beginners, all levels are welcome.

Yoga Strength

Increase strength, flexibility, and body awareness, and leave feeling more calm and refreshed.  Mats are available or feel free to bring your own.

Wednesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm 

This yoga class combines the mind and body with instruction for all levels. Whether you are a beginner looking for a way to relieve stress and tension, or you are an advanced yogi looking to challenge yourself, this class is sure to leave you feeling calm and refreshed.

Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm

Zumba  (Check out the video)
This fun and high-energy dance class incorporates styles from around the world, such as Latin, hip hop, belly dancing, Bollywood, Persian, and maybe even some throwbacks to the 1970s and 1980s.  All levels are welcome. Don't feel intimidated - come out and dance.

WHAM Classes (these classes have a registration fee):
There are also several classes that are offered during the noon hour through WHAM programs. These six-week classes have a $20 student registration fee. Registration begins August 30 at Health and Wellness Center for these classes or pay and register online.
