Physical Activity Classes and Events

Ongoing Physical Activity Classes

Open to students only. Register for free physical activity classes that focus on the mind and body connection.  The six-week classes begin during the week of March 24, 2014 and end during the week of April 28, 2014.

Registration opens on March 12, 2014.  Email to register. Space is limited. You will receive a confirming email with class location if you are enrolled in the class. 

Latin Dance - meets once per week.
Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm
Instructor: Sara Parcero Leites
This class brings together rhythms and basic steps from several countries in Latin America; from salsa to merengue, bachata, salsa or cha cha.  This class is designed for anyone who wants to learn Latin dance moves and to have fun.   All levels are welcome.

Expanding Consciousness Yoga - meets once per week

Looking for more playtime in your life? Ready to embark on a journey through your body? This class, accessible to everyBODY no matter your experience with yoga, will utilize various practices to help students find more awareness in their emotional, physical and spiritual bodies. Classes blend classic Hatha asana (poses), breath work, somatics (retraining the brain to communicate with the muscles), meditation, plant spirit healing, dance, and community-building. The class goal is to help you love being in your body.

Yoga for Fitness - meets once per week
Tuesdays, 7:00 - 8:00 pm
Instructor: Alyssa Ashbaugh
This high-energy yoga class is designed to keep your body and mind healthy by combining strength-training exercises with traditional yoga poses. We'll tone and sculpt each major muscle group, boost your cardio power, and increase your flexibility. Set to energizing music, this class is just as much fun as it is a great work out for your entire body.

This fun and high-energy dance class will be taught by two enthusiastic girls who love to dance! We will be incorporating styles from around the world, such as Latin, hip hop, belly dancing, Bollywood, Persian, and maybe even some throwbacks to the 1970s and 1980s. We are so excited to be teaching the class, and we want everyone to have fun and feel comfortable. All levels are welcome. Don't feel intimidated - come out and dance with us.

There are also several classes that are offered during the noon hour through WHAM programs. These six-week classes have a $20 student registration fee. Registration begins March 10 at Health and Wellness Center for these classes or pay online.
