Arriving at once from everywhere (and thus nowhere), Justin Butler nonetheless aims for a befitting worldliness. Friend of cats, poems, and tasty victuals, Justin finds repose in the vicissitudes of language, the aromas of Arabic spices, and the purr of a contented cat. Justin holds BA degrees in English and Spanish, with minors in Philosophy and Psychology, as well as an MA in Spanish from the University of Missouri—Columbia. His Master’s thesis, “House, Body and Flux: The Poetics of Space and the Space of Poetics in José Ángel Valente,” begins a critical trajectory he hopes to develop in his doctoral studies. He has published poetry in Center: A Journal of the Literary Arts and enjoys both the process of poetic translation as well as the poetic process of translation. |
