Peter Weisensel

Professor and Chair of History

Professor Weisensel is a specialist in modern Russian history. He is the author of two monographs on Russia in the 19th century and is at work on another about Russian travelers' descriptions of Central Asia and the formation of a Russian colonial mentality. In addition to courses in Russian/Soviet history he teaches courses in modern German history, a joint course with a philosophy colleague on the history and philosophy of socialism, and thematic courses on Europe in the 20th century.
