Current Paid Holidays - (Benefits Page)

Part-Time Staff Holiday Scheduled Benefit

  • Exempt Employees (Benefit Eligible): If a part-time exempt employee's scheduled day off falls on a scheduled College holiday, hours that the employee normally works can be taken off any time during that month's pay period and the employee will be paid their normal pay based on their fte.

  • Nonexempt Employees (Benefit Eligible): If a part-time nonexempt employee's scheduled day off falls on a scheduled College holiday, hours that you normally work can be taken off any time during that bi-weekly pay period (subject to supervisor approval) and the holiday benefit will be equalized to your regular fte pay.

If the College Holiday falls on a scheduled work day, your holiday pay will be equalized to your fte.

Note: Non-exempt employees should clearly indicate on their timecard how many Holiday hours and Total hours so pay will be equalized to employee's "scheduled" fte pay.

If the Employee does not have a "set" schedule, it will be up to the supervisor's discretion on how many holiday hours should be paid for that pay period.

Exempt and Nonexempt Non-Bargaining Unit Staff Required to Work on Labor Day Weekend

The College's operating schedule occasionally requires exempt and nonexempt non-bargaining unit employees to work on a scheduled College holiday. An example is the "First Year Orientation Program" which falls during Labor Day Weekend each year and affects employees in the Dean of Students Office, Registrar's Office, Library, Financial Aid, Cashier, Mailing Services, Athletics and Computing.

The College work week is Sunday through Saturday. By definition, work on the Sunday and Monday of Labor Day Weekend is not overtime and does not qualify for for overtime compensatory time procedures (See Staff Handbook section 3.12). For nonexempt employees, hours worked through 40 hours in the week including Labor Day will be compensated at straight time and hours worked in excess of 40 hours in the week will be compensated at time and one-half. Exempt employees do not receive overtime pay. In addition, any exempt or nonexempt non-bargaining unit employee required to work on the Labor Day Monday holiday will receive one floating holiday that can be used before the end of the first term, with advance notice to their supervisor.

Bargaining unit employees are governed by the terms of the collective bargaining agreements in force between the College and the bargaining units.
