3.1 Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy Statement

This is to affirm Macalester College's policy of providing Equal Employment
Opportunity/Affirmative Action to all staff employees and applicants for
Employment.

In complying with the letter and spirit of applicable laws and in pursuing its own goals of diversity, Macalester College shall not discriminate on the grounds of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, membership or activity in a local commission dealing with discrimination issues, disability, sexual orientation, age, and veteran's status in employment policies and practices, education, and all other areas of the College. Macalester College has appointed the following position as Staff Affirmative Action Officer:The Associate Director of Human Resources, 1600 Grand Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55113.

The Associate Director's responsibilities will include monitoring and implementing all Equal Employment Opportunity activities and reporting the effectiveness of the voluntary Affirmative Action Program. The President of Macalester College will receive and review reports on the progress of the program. If any staff employee or applicant for staff employment believes he/she has been discriminated against, they should contact the Staff Affirmative Action Officer/Staff Grievance Officer at 651-696-6284.
