3.5 Classification of WorkConsistent with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Macalester employees are divided into two classifications - exempt and nonexempt. 3.5.1 ExemptExempt employees are paid on a monthly salary basis. They are paid on the last working day of each month for that month. Exempt employees complete a leave report sheet for time-related benefits. Exempt employees do not receive payment of overtime for hours worked in excess of 40 in a week. 3.5.2 Non-exemptNon-exempt employees are eligible for overtime for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.
