Q: What happened to all the Digital
Resources?
A: All the digital
materials have been moved. They are available only through your Moodle class page.
Q:
Where are the ELFE and Astérix exercises?
A:
The ELFE and Astérix exercises are only available in the
HRC on the new iMacs.
They are easily accessed from the folders at the bottom right of
the screen.
Q:
Can I get help scanning my materials?
A:
Yes. First, read the simple, one-page instruction sheet on the
wall
next to the scanner. If you have a problem not addressed on the
poster, ask at the counter.
Q:
How do I transfer my VHS tape to DVD?
A:
This is a two step process. Step one is to play the video and "record"
it into the computer using iMovie. Once you have done this, you
can edit the video, add titles, slides and audio if you wish.
Once
you have something you like, you start the iDVD software and burn
your DVD. You must use DVD-R discs for this. The first
copy will take up to three times the length of your video but
subsequent
copies take only about 15 minutes each. More information on iMovie
is available here and iDVD, here.
Q:
How do I print in color?
A:
You may print one copy of each document in color from carrels
13 - 16 and the two scanning stations in the HRC. Open your document
as usual, select print from the File menu and select the color printer
from the list at the top of the print window. Please do not use
the color printer if you do not have to.
Q:
Does the HRC have a lost-and-found?
A:
Items found in the HRC are generally held for a day or two and
then transfered
to the campus lost-and-found in the Campus Center.
Q:
How do I make stills from a frame in a movie?
A:
In one of the digital editing rooms, caputre the section of the
movie around the frame you want using iMovie. Find the exact frame
you want by scrubbing to the area and using the arrow keys to find
the frame . Select "Save Frame As ... " from the Edit
menu, name it and save.
Q:
Can I use the computer projection cart (crash cart) for my class?
A:
Faculty may reserve the cart (for classrooms without a mounted projector)
in person at the front desk in the HRC or by calling x6336. Students
whishing to use the cart should contact their professor.
