Macalester supports several scholarships and awards which recognize the civic engagement efforts of students. Several of the endowed awards are given by alums who have given back to the college in order to encourage students in their community involvement work.

Global Citizenship Student Award

Shantee Rosado '09 was awarded the Global Citizenship Student Award. This honor is presented annually to the graduating senior who best demonstrates a commitment to the ideals and practice of high academic performance, internationalism, multiculturalism, and civic engagement. Shantee, a double major in sociology and psychology, impressively articulated her views on global citizenship in an intellectual, yet deeply personal fashion, tying her extensive culturally focused work in communities from South Minneapolis to Fiji to her development as a student and leader.
