the Corporate Time server today, December 22, from noon to 12:30 PM. You
may be disconnected from Corporate Time while we perform this
maintenance.

12/19/06, Memorial Service Set for Linda Carlson
A memorial service will be held for Linda Carlson at 7:30 PM Thursday,
December 21, at St. Mary's Church. St. Mary's Church is located at the
corner of Laurel and Howell, 2 blocks west of Fairview and 3 blocks
south of Marshall. There will be a coffee and cookie reception following
the service. Linda was a database programmer analyst in Information
Technology Services (ITS) for eight years. Linda died Sunday night, December 17.

12/13/06, Delayed Mail Delivery
Last night a problem arose with incoming Internet e-mail (e-mail
messages originating from outside Macalester). The problem does not
affect outgoing e-mail or any on-campus e-mail. However, any e-mail
messages sent to Macalester accounts from outside Macalester between
8:00 PM Tuesday 12/12 (last night) and 8:00 AM this morning will be delivered
late. The messages have not been discarded, but are backed-up in a
queue. There are about 45,000 backed-up messages which will be
processed and delivered over the next 6-8 hours. We apologize for the
inconvenience, and have taken steps to lessen the possibility of this

12/08/06, Argos Problem
On Thursday, December 7 2006, the Argos server malfunctioned during a
training class. Macalester IT and Evisions (the vendor) are
investigating why this happened. We feel that we have an understanding
of the situation and are working to fix it. The server has been fully
repaired and is fully functional as of the morning of December 9.
Furthermore, we are documenting the fix so repairs can be made faster
next time.

12/04/06, Banner Production Database Going Offline for Maintenance
The following message does not pertain to faculty members or students.

Starting at 5:00 PM today, Monday December 4, we will be upgrading
General and Student in the Production database. These upgrades will not
affect the two modules (Finance and Financial Aid) that are live in
Production.
