06/19/06, Voice Mail Indicator Lights
In the past week, there have been some experiences of voice mail
indicators not lighting when messages are left - meaning you may have
voice messages, and don't know it. A technician is working on the
problem. If your voice mail indicator hasn't been on in a while, you
may want to check your voice mail. Please let Kelly Borke know at x6566
if you had messages, but your indicator was not on. We apologize for
this inconvenience. [Notification-L]
06/08/06, Periodicals Review
The Library, working with library representatives from each department,
has completed the 2006 Spring Periodical Review. A list of print titles
proposed for cancellation can be found on the Library website at
www.macalester.edu/library/periodicalcancellations2007.pdf.
Please send any feedback to Katy Gabrio, gabrio@macalester.edu by June 15, 2006. [Bulletin]
06/07/06, Server Downtime
On Friday, June 9, at 12:30 PM we will be installing some new equipment
in the data room. This will require briefly disconnecting most of the
servers from the network while the equipment is being installed. We
expect to have the work completed by 1:30 PM.
Internet connectivity will remain up during this time. E-mail, file and
print services, and the administrative systems will be unavailable. If
you have any questions, please contact Geri Olson at x6525. [Notification-L]
06/01/06, Leaving for All or Part of the Summer?
Please change your voice mail greeting to correspond with your time
away. It's a great courtesy to your callers. To change your greeting,
access your voice mailbox, then press 4, then 3, then 2 and follow the
prompts. For further information feel free to call Telecommunications
at x6566.
You can also set a 'vacation' message telling your e-mail correspondents
when you'll be gone and when you expect to return. Go to mail.macalester.edu and click on
the Vacation Monkey. Then log into OCS Webmail and scroll down to the
"Auto Reply" function. The expiration date you set will be the LAST day
on which the automatic reply is sent. Type a short message in the text
box, then scroll down and click the "Submit" button, and log out of OCS.
