Education Abroad Advising Specialist

Markim Hall, 206
Telephone: 651-696-6576

In my role as Education Abroad Advising Specialist, I advise students in a sub-set of academic areas, manage pre-departure programming, work with Macalester exchanges, and coordinate with the Study Abroad Institutional Review Board (SAIRB).

I joined the International Center in November 2010. This was a return to Macalester, as I am a 2007 Macalester graduate. While studying at Macalester, I majored in Anthropology and had a concentration in African Studies. I also had the opportunity to study abroad in Mali, where I learned a local language, lived with a homestay family, traveled around the country, and conducted independent research. Following graduation, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon. There I taught English and Computer Science to both secondary school students and student-teachers. Most recently, I worked as the Outreach Coordinator in the Study Abroad Office at the University of Illinois.
