Rachel Kamagne-Jones joined the International Center in November 2010. She is a 2007 Macalester graduate, where she majored in Anthropology and African Studies. During her time as a student at Macalester, Rachel studied abroad in Mali. While there, she had the opportunity to learn a local language, live with a homestay family, travel around the country, and even do independent research. Following graduation, Rachel served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon. There she taught English and Computer Science to secondary and post-secondary students. Most recently, she worked as the Outreach Coordinator in the Study Abroad Office at the University of Illinois.
In her role as Study Abroad Advisor, Rachel is the "first-contact" responder for students seeking information about study abroad. Her main duties include advising students about off-campus study programs, coordinating the awarding of internal scholarships, co-facilitating pre-departure orientation sessions, maintaining the International Center's website, and assisting the Study Abroad Coordinator with various other functions of the assisting the Director of the International Center with various other functions of the off-campus study enterprise at Macalester College.
