Visiting International Faculty Program
Each year up to three visiting international faculty, including the Hubert H. Humphrey Distinguished Professor, from diverse regions of the world and with a variety of scholarly vocations offer courses related to their home country and region.
Visiting international faculty for 2000-2002 are the Hubert H. Humphrey Distinguished Professor Amparo Menendez Carrion (Chile, Latin American Studies), Professor Nikolai Petrov (Russia, Russian Area Studies), and Professor Marie Thorsten (Hawaii, Japan Studies).
Spanish Department Visiting Faculty Program
On leave from permanent teaching duties at Universitas Castellae in Valladolid, Spain, each visiting faculty member is assigned to teach three courses in the Spnaish Department during Macalester College's spring semester.
International Center staff play a part in the initial and ongoing acculturation process for these visiting faculty in order to foster their integration into the academic and cultural life of the community.
