January and Summer Programs

There are some January off-campus study opportunities, and many, many in summer. But all of these stand outside the jurisdiction, so to speak, of the International Center.

January Programs

A few academic departments of the college -- Geology, Classics, occasionally Psychology and Educational Studies -- offer for-credit January courses abroad. These are announced during the fall semester. Keep your eye out for them. Every one comes with a cost, and also with up to $500 in financial aid. Participation in these is up to the organizing department, and the International Center is not involved.

Summer Programs

Summer programs exist in abundance and exuberant variety. Many of these are very good; they can also be expensive, and there is no Macalester financial aid available for them. You may do a summer program without prior approval from the college, and upon return apply to the Registrar for transfer credit.
