Macalester’s exchange agreement with Nanyang Technological University of Singapore arose out of a need to find more study abroad opportunities for our students in the physical sciences, especially chemistry and physics. Nanyang is a new, large, and ambitious English-language university with modern facilities and science curricula that match well with Macalester’s. In the QS World University Rankings 2011 published in September 2011, NTU moved to 58th place in the world, placing it ahead, for example, of London School of Economics; and in the natural sciences category equal to King’s College London. An exchange agreement simply means that Macalester students may now enroll directly at NTU for a semester, and vice-versa.
