Camille Kroll, Minnesota '14

Camille is a sophomore from Chanhassen, Minnesota, and plans on majoring in neuroscience studies, with a double minor in chemistry and Spanish. Although she is currently pre-med, she would like to leave her options open. Camille has a column in the Sierra Club's state journal and is an ESL tutor in Minneapolis. In her free time, Camille loves to spend time with friends at Caribou Coffee. Camille started working at ISP in summer 2011.

 

 

 

Alexandra Ward, New Mexico '14

Alex is a sophomore from New Mexico and intends to major in International Studies and Political Science and minor in Hispanic Studies. She is involved in Macalester International Organization and is a member of Women in Economics. In her free time, she enjoys painting and drawing, listening to music, and sipping hot chai on cold days.

 

Amy Janett, New Jersey '14

Amy is a sophomore from New Jersey, majoring in mathematics. At Macalester, she is a member of the Macalester Jewish Organization and volunteers at the Division of Indian Work. She spent a year of high school in Iceland as a foreign exchange student. Amy started working at ISP in spring 2011.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anja Crowder, Germany/Minnesota ’13

Anja is a junior with plans to double major in International Studies and Political Science, with a concentration in Human Rights and Humanitarianism. Having grown up in the Twin Cities she is an expert of the area and is exited to go on excursions in the cities! Anja grew up speaking both German and English at home and visits Germany frequently to visit her family there. Travel is her life long passion, prompting Anja to spend a year traveling and volunteering around the world before coming to Macalester.

 

 

 

 

Ariadne Baskin, South Africa/Greece '14

Ari is a sophomore and intends to double major in Geography and Political Science with an Urban Studies concentration. She is a South African-Greek citizen and has lived in South Africa, Bangladesh, Angola, and Washington DC. She is a member of the Macalester Development Group and Program board. In her free time, Ari hangs out at Tea Garden and on the lawn if the weather permits.

 

 

 

Even Kvelland, Norway '12

Even did his first year of college in LA. He is a senior majoring in Political Science with an emphasis on international security and development. He was born in Oslo, Norway, and spent one year of high school in the U.S. He had a gap year after high school where he led a team of Norwegians and Swedes around Norway to recruit sponsors for SOS Children's Village. Even started working at ISP in spring 2011.

 

 

Jacob Waxman, Massachusetts '14

Jake is a sophomore and a Political Science major with a concentration in International Development. He was born in Los Angeles, California, but spends most of his time in Boston, Massachusetts. He is a member of the Macalester crew team and a writer for the Hegemonocle student magazine. He loves trying new foods and meeting new people.

 

 

 

 

Lorna Proctor, Malaysia '13

Lorna is a junior from Kuala Lumpur and an Economics and History double-major. She is the former co-chair of MASECA and works for Macalester's President's Office. She passes much of her time soaking up rays outside the Campus Center whenever possible, and then spends the rest of the year pining for the sun again. Daily visits to the Tea Garden are pretty high up on her list too.

 

 

Hillary Frey, Oregon '12

Hillary is a senior from Portland, Oregon, and intends to major in studio art and minor in anthropology. She is a co-chair of the Art A-Lions (Art Alliance) student organization, where she helps to publish an annual journal of student artwork. She loves playing water polo, learning to cook, and spending time with friends.

 

 

 

 

 

Kwame Fynn, Ghana ’13

Kwame is a junior from Accra, Ghana. He is a double major in Economics and Applied Mathematics & Statistics. He is the Co-chair of the Macalester Investment Group (MIG) and has served on various boards including Afrika! and the Conduct Hearing Board (CHB). In his free time, Kwame loves to hang out with friends and enjoy the Twin Cities or play pick-up soccer and basketball.

 

 

Nola Pastor, Wisconsin '14

Nola is a sophomore from Madison, Wisconsin, planning to major in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies with a minor in English. She is excited to be a co-chair of the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center and to be living in the Veggie Co-op. Nola loves swinging on the Macalester swings and singing and playing music with her friends.

 

 

 

Nolin Deloison-Baum, California/France '12

Nolin is a senior majoring in Political Science and French. He grew up in California, but much of his family is from France. Nolin was a first-year in the International First-Year Program and he had such a good time that he looked forward to being a mentor for the program in the fall of his second year, which proved just as rewarding. This year will be his fourth year participating in the ISP, and his third as a mentor.

 

Oana Alexan, Romania '13

Oana is a junior who declared a double major in International Studies and Hispanic Studies, a minor in Poli Sci, and a Human Rights and Humanitarianism concentration. She enjoys working with immigrants in the Twin Cities, spending her free time with friends, and running along the Mississippi, weather-permitting. She's looking forward to spending the spring of next year in Madrid.

 

 

 

 

Paolo Venneri, New Mexico '12

Paolo is a physics and international studies double major. He is a first generation U.S. citizen with family in Italy, allowing him to travel back and forth between the two countries as soon as he was born. He just finished his study abroad semester in China at Peking University. He is captain of the Men's Swimming Team at Macalester, as well as being a player on the Men's Club Waterpolo team. He enjoys reading and wandering the twin cities in his free time in search of new and interesting places.

 

 

 

Qingyang Liu, China '14

Qingyang is a sophomore from Shanghai, China. She intends to study Astrophysics and Psychology, but her interests range from art to legal studies. She is a member of the Mock Trial team, and is active in Chinese Culture Club. She was also just elected as a sophomore representative in MCSG. She loves painting and reading and enjoys having breakfast in a cafe on weekends.

 

 

 

Rohin Borpujari, India '14

Rohin Borpujari (class of 2014) was born in India and brought up in the Middle East. He did his last two years of high school at the UWC in India. His plan as of now is to major in Economics with a minor in Media Studies. He is a part of various student orgs at Mac, including MESA and MASECA, and also plays tennis and intramural soccer.

 

 

 

 

Salman Haji, New Mexico/Tanzania '14

Salman is a sophomore intending to major in International Studies and Linguistics with a concentration in Middle Eastern Studies and Islamic Civilizations. Born and raised in Arusha and Mwanza, Tanzania, Salman has studied in Egypt and Morocco and now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a member of the Muslim Student Association on campus and is also a volunteer ESL teacher at an East African immigrant community centre in the Twin Cities. Salman loves to dine at Shish and have a delicious frozen drink at Tea Garden afterwards!

 

Shahar Eberzhon, Israel '12

Shahar is a senior from Israel, with a major in sociology and international studies and a minor in legal studies. After graduating from high school in Italy, she did one year of volunteering in her country as part of the national service requirement. Shahar started working for International Student Programs in spring 2009.

 

 

 

 

 

Vinod Malwatte, Sri Lanka '13

Vinod is a Junior from Colombo and intends to major in Environmental
Science with a Community and Global Health concentration and a minor
in Anthropology. He is a member of the Macalester Men's Water Polo
team and Maseca - a student based organization on campus. In his free
time Vinod enjoys biking around the Twin Cities and playing squash.

 

 

Yingxin Ye, China '13

Yip is a Junior from southern China. She is majoring in Biology with an Added Emphasis in International Issues and intends to major in Economics and minor in Environmental Studies. She is a Macalester Administration Tour Guide and volunteers at the Ramsey Junior High every week. In her free time, Yip likes to explore the Twin Cities and swim.

 

 

 

Yulun Li, China '14

Yulun is a sophomore from Xi'an, China. He plans to major in economics and philosophy. At Macalester, he is a member of the Chinese Culture Club. He also volunteers in Ramsey Junior High as a tutor.
