* Summer hours may vary (the college closes at 12:30 on Fridays) Nienke Wijnia, International Student Programs Administrative Assistant Nienke coordinates the host family program and is capable of handling most issues when Aaron is unavailable. She holds a Master of Liberal Arts degree from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Nienke has lived in the United States since 1999. He is a retired U.S. Customs and Border Protection Supervisor who was a former U.S. Immigration collateral duty school officer for 26 years. He also was the only Inspector on the SEVIS HQ design team from 1995 to 1998. He holds a Bachelor's degree from St. Olaf College. Aaron is responsible for Macalester College's 210 plus international students on nonimmigrant visas. He counsels and advises international students on academic, cultural, and government regulatory matters; is an advisor to cultural organizations; spearheads the pre-orientation for international students; the International Student Mentor Program; and aids Macalester Admissions in recruiting a few weeks a year. He has worked at Macalester since 1998. Previously, he worked for the Savannah College of Art and Design, the Malaysian-American Commission on Educational Exchange in Penang, and has taught English in both the US and Japan. He has had sojourns through work or study in Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and the UK, and has traveled to over forty countries.|
