Staying Informed About 'System Events'
Occasionally, 'system events' will temporarily disrupt some
network-based services, including e-mail and access to servers. These
system events may be downtimes scheduled and announced in advance (e.g.,
for hardware maintenance and repairs) or they may be unplanned problems
(e.g. a storm causing a power outage). When such events occur, ITS
recognizes that you want as much information about the problems and the
solutions as you can get. To that end, there is an e-mail distribution
list, Notification-L, to which all new accounts are automatically
subscribed. This list is used solely to communicate with campus users about system
events - far in advance for planned events, and as soon as possible for unplanned
events. You may change your
subscription options here.
