PURCHASING
- Purchase Energy Star compliant hardware for maximum energy efficiency.
- Purchase computer desktops, laptops and monitors with a gold or silver Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) rating.
- Purchase products from vendors that promote sustainability, like Dell and Apple.
- Purchase Boise Aspen 30% Recycled Paper. A single ream of saves 3.66 KWhs of energy, 1.6 pounds of greenhouse gases, and 6.4 gallons of waste water.
OUT-OF-DATE TECHNOLOGY IS RECYCLED OR DONATED
ITS donates used computers to non-profit organizations and schools. Any electronics that are not reusable are recycled responsibly, including the packaging. To learn more, review the Request a Donation page.
SERVER VIRTUALIZATION
Server virtualization is used to minimize the number of physical computers in the data center.
PAPERCUT PRINT RELEASE STATIONS
PaperCut print release stations are installed in the computer labs at Dewitt Wallace Library and the Humanities Resource Center to reduce paper waste by eliminating accidental printing.
