Wireless Network
Wireless access to Macalester's network is available across campus to students, faculty, staff and guests.
Faculty and staff may use Virtual Private Network (VPN) to securely connect to the network from off campus. Report wireless signal issues when possible.
| WIRELESS NETWORKS | AUDIENCE | LOGIN REQUIREMENTS |
|---|---|---|
| Macalester | Faculty and Staff | Encrypted. Electronic key (password) is required and reset each fall semester. |
| Macalester-student | Current Macalester students | Encrypted. Electronic key (password) is required. Once connected, all devices must be scanned and registered. |
| Macalester-Guest | Guests and visitors | No login required. This service offers no encryption and is provided as a courtesy to our guests. Internet access is similar to that provided by coffee shops. Faculty, staff and students should use the other secure wireless networks. |
By connecting to the wireless network, you agree to abide by Macalester College’s Information Technology Responsible Use Policy.
Wired Connections
STUDENTS
Permanent student residence hall rooms are equipped with one Ethernet jack for each resident. Language houses and special program residences are wired at variable ratios. All devices plugged in to wired jacks in student residence halls will be scanned and registered. Students may pick up an Ethernet cable at no cost from the ITS Help Desk in Humanities 314.
FACULTY AND STAFF
