Preferred Configurations

Our preferred computers and printers are chosen because of their power, flexibility, ability to meet many different needs in different offices, and value for money. Furthermore, these are models with which ITS staff are fully-conversant - we can get parts for them, and we can effectively troubleshoot problems with them. The preferred devices in these categories change frequently in order to keep up with technological innovations and changes in product availability, so check this page often.

'Lab' laserprinter: Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 9040dn networked high-volume monochrome laserprinter with duplex unit and two (2) 500-sheet paper trays installed. This model printer is allocated for labs and some offices supporting extraordinarily high volumes and frequency of printing. Additional paper tray units and envelope feeders are available, but must be purchased with departmental or other non-Micro Fund budgets.

A note on peripheral equipment. In order to meet as many computer needs as possible, the Micro Fund does not purchase or replace peripheral equipment (such as docking stations, scanners, external storage drives, personal and color printers, etc.). If you require peripheral devices for a standard computer or for a standard printer, you will need to purchase them using other funding sources.
