Library Lab and Imaging Annex
Library Lab
Located on the lower level of the DeWitt Wallace Library, this
lab contains 28 computers - a mixture of Apple iMacs and Windows PCs. The Library lab boasts a high-speed
Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 5si printer.
The Library lab is staffed by student computing consultants
and managed by Library staff. During the academic year, the lab's
normal hours of operation are the same as those of the Library
itself, with the exception that the lab closes half an hour
prior
to the the rest of the building. Phone: x.6538.
Normal lab hours are posted on the Library Lab's Web page,
http://www.macalester.edu/library/lab/index.html. Hours are
extended during "crunch" times (around midterms
and final exams).
Library Imaging Annex
The Imaging Annex is intended to assist Macalester faculty,
staff and students who are creating Web pages or manipulating
graphics
for Web publication. The Annex is a limited-use facility:
it is not a general-purpose computer lab, but it is open
to all
members of the Macalester community. This facility is located
in Room 205, and houses two each Apple Power Macintoshes
and MPC PCs, substantially augmented and upgraded for use as
high-end graphics/scanning/Web design workstations. Two of
the computers
(one each Mac and PC) are connected to flatbed scanners;
these workstations also have some scanning and photo-manipulation
software
installed. The Imaging Annex is open for limited hours
(staffed by student consultants) and by appointment (with Library
staff).
Current hours are posted in the Library and on the Library
lab's home page.
