Novell

The Novell File Servers make up a shared network space for faculty, staff and students. There are a variety of ways to access the file system, including the Novell Client, Native File Access and Web-based access (via WebFile). See below to determine which is the best option for you.

The Novell Client is used to allow direct and easy access to the Novell file servers when you log in to your computer. It is installed by default on College-owned PCs, including lab computers. There is no client for Macintosh computers, and the client is not available to students. If you need the Novell Client installed on your computer, contact the Help Desk at x6525 or helpdesk@macalester.edu.

Native File Access allows you to access the file servers with no need to install any special software. It allows easy transfer of files using drag-and-drop, but it is only available on-campus.

Note: Vista users (and ONLY Vista users) will need to download and run this file to enable Native File Access.

Web-based File Access allows access from any computer, anywhere, via the web browser. Certain browsers and certain settings may prevent webfile from functioning. See the documentation for more info.
