How to use each section of the Nakama 1 textbook most efficiently:

New Vocabulary
1. Read the New Vocabulary section in the textbook and answer questions regarding new words.
2. Read the Essential Vocabulary section.
Listen to the Audio Material Part A, which demonstrates pronunciation of each vocabulary, and repeat each word.Do it first with the textbook open. The second time, have the textbook closed.Think how the word would be written in kana, as well as the meaning of the word or phrase.
Ask a Japanese tutor (or your study partner) to give you a quiz on the vocabulary.

1.Read the relevant grammatical explanations in the textbook (If you have any questions, write them down to ask in class).

3. Answer questions in the relevant section in the Workbook.
4. Listen to the relevant section in the Audio Material Part B and answer questions.

2. Study each frame of manga (cartoon strips) and try to guess what it illustrates.
3. Listen to the dialogue on the Student CD, which most of you have and which is also available on the web.
4. Read the dialogue.
5. Match each character’s line in the dialogue with the corresponding frame number of the manga. The first one is done for you.
