The Director of the Lealtad-Suzuki
Center
is the initial contact point for
students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members seeking
assistance or raising concerns regarding multicultural issues. The
director is the training and development coordinator around skills related
to cross-cultural communication, group work, and recognition of difference;
coordinates with various offices and departments to assist in the management
and promotion of multicultural programming and services; and develops new
multicultural programming for the Macalester campus community.
The director also coordinates the Pluralism and Unity Program for
first-year students. As a member of the Department of Multicultural
Life staff, the director develops and maintains communication about the Lealtad-Suzuki
Center
and the Department of Multicultural Life, including web pages and
publications.
 Alina Wong, Assistant Director of the Lealtad-Suzuki
Center
The Assistant Director of the Lealtad-Suzuki
Center provides
leadership for the management of the Cultural House, a multi-functional
facility that includes a programming structure, a cultural student
organization office space, a residential component, resource areas, and
other comfortable spaces for people to connect with each other. The Assistant Director works with
the Cultural House student staff to plan and implement signature programs
for the Cultural House. The
Assistant Director also coordinates the LSC’s
Allies Project and Student Identity Collectives.
 Afifa Benwahoud, Department Coordinator, Multicultural Life
The Department Coordinator for the Department
of Multicultural Life provides administrative assistance to the Dean of
Multicultural Life and the Director of the LSC.
The Coordinator is responsible for providing information about DML and
Center programs, coordinates the logistics and operation of special events,
develops and maintains databases, assists in the supervision and training
of student employees and the up-keep of the department’s
organization. The Coordinator also manages the department’s budget.
