NetStorage/WebFile allows you to easily get to your Macalester
network folders using a web browser. Simply open a browser and
go to http://webfile.macalester.edu and enter your campus network
username and password. Most computers in the library have a
link across the top of the browser to NetStorage/Webfile.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT 'DRIVES'
FOR?
The most frequently used drives are:
HOME@MACALESTER is your personal space on the network
servers. Only you can get to this space and you can store documents
and files there.
DriveK@COURSES is for accessing your
course folders where professors place documents and files that
they want the students in their class to be able to access.
DriveG@GROUPS is groups space on the network. If you
are a member of a campus organization, department, etc that
has set up a groups folder you can access it here. Access to
groups folders is limited only to members of the group for which
the folder was set up.
DriveW@DOCS is for accessing your files on the campus
web server.
For more information about the other drives available, see the
ITS
documentation on NetStorage/WebFile.

HOW DO I UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD FILES?
Once you've selected a drive and a specific file, you can
use the menu options across the top to do everything from downloading/uploading
files to creating new folders. For example, to access a file
in your course folders, select DriveK@COURSES by double clicking
on it. Locate the file you want to download and check the box
before it. Then from the FILE menu across the top, select download
- you will be the option to open the file or to save it to the
computer you are using.
For more information about other options, see the ITS
documentation on NetStorage/WebFile.
