Visual Thinking
with Spatial Data: Using Spatial Organization to Access Library Information
PRESENTER:
Lesley Kadish and Jennifer Jones,
Minnesota Historical Society; Leah Ujda, UWI Digital Collections
Center
SESSION DESCRIPTION:
Spatial organization offers a new way to interpret and present
information in a visual construct. Through maps and modeling, users
don’t simply access information; they discover its context and build
a richer picture of the past. This presentation will explore three
approaches to spatially organizing historic information: use of Google
Earth, GIS, and three dimensional modeling. We will also discuss the
challenges related to spatial metadata.
