Technology support in the library ranges from requests for assistance with software and hardware issues, to printing equipment support, to assistance with events held in the library. In 2011 alone, the library technology support staff responded to over 1,400 requests for support.

Equipment Checkout

The library lab makes a variety of computer equipment available for checkout from the lower level information desk. A checkout agreement must be completed before equipment can be accessed by library users.

Desktop Advertising

Current Macalester faculty, staff and students may advertise their events on dekstop computers in the library. For more information about eligibility, availability and guidelines, please see the Desktop Advertising page.

Digital Camera Checkout

Current Macalester faculty, staff and students can check out digital cameras from the Lower Level Technology Desk in the library for up to 24 hours.

Kindles

Four Kindle devices are available for checkout (two Kindle 2 devices and two Kindle DX devices) with a loan period of 3 weeks. Each comes with a carrying case and USB cable.

Laptops Available for Checkout

The Library Lab provides 12 Dell PC laptops and 14 MacBooks for general use.

Presentation Practice Room

The DeWitt Wallace Library Presentation Practice Room, Room 303, is available to currently registered Macalester students, staff and faculty during the Academic year. Please check with the Circulation Desk staff to reserve the room and check out a key.
