Exporting Records From: MathSciNet

Single or multiple records

  • Click on clipboard underneath each record to “save” the records.
  • Click on the tab marked Clipboard (upper right of the screen) to see the records you have marked.
  • In the drop-down box next to “Select format” choose Citations (EndNote). Click on SaveClip.
  • Copy the plain text version of your list.
  • Login to RefWorks.
  • Choose References/Import from the toolbar.
  • Select Macalester College as the Import Filter/Data Source and MathSciNet(AMS) [EndNote View] as the Database.
  • Paste the text directly into the “Import data from the following text” box on the Import screen in RefWorks. Click on Import.
  • Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

Note: If you have a long list of records you might want to save the list as a file and import the file into RefWorks. Follow the directions above through the Copy step. Then:

  • Paste the text into a text editor program such as Notepad.
  • Save the document as a text file (*.txt)
  • Login to RefWorks.
  • Choose References/Import from the toolbar.
  • Select Macalester College as the Import Filter/Data Source and MathSciNet(AMS) [EndNote View] as the Database.
  • Under "Import data from the following text file", use the Browse button to find the text file you saved to your computer. Click the Import button.
  • Your records should appear in the Last Imported Folder.
