Exporting Records From: NBER (National Bureau of Economic Research)

You can only export a single record at a time.

  • With the record (abstract of the paper) on the screen, click on RIS next to “Machine-readable bibliographic record” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Copy the text of the record.
  • Open a second browser window and login to RefWorks.
  • Choose References/Import from the toolbar.
  • Select Macalester College as the Import Filter/Data Source and Bibsys (RIS format) as the Database.
  • Paste the copied text into the “Import Data from the Following Text” box. Click on the Import button.
  • Your record should appear in the Last Imported Folder.

Note: If you have several records to import, to save time you might want to copy and paste them into a single text file (using Notepad or TextEdit) so that you can then import the entire file into RefWorks all at once.
