Open Access Day, October 14, 2008
The first Open Access Day, this was an international event with sponsored programs at colleges and universities that participated in the day-long event. Gavin Baker, SPARC, spoke during the lunch hour in the Harmon Room. In the evening approximately 25 students joined us for pizza, conversation, and a video conference with speakers who focused on increasing awareness and understanding of Open Access (OA). Open Access Day has been expanded into Open Access Week, October 19-23, 2009.The Future of Scholarly Publishing – it’s impact on teaching, research, and higher education

Topics will include how the current system is being changed by digital publishing, responses by scholarly societies, author rights, and open access. Food and beverages will be provided.
