Library Technology Support
Technology support in the library ranges from requests for assistance with software and hardware issues, to printing equipment support, to assistance with events held in the library. In 2011 alone, the library technology support staff responded to over 1,400 requests for support.
The library has a variety of computer equipment available for checkout from the Circulation/Reserves Desk. A checkout agreement must be completed before equipment can be accessed by library users.
Eligible organizations may use the desktop backgrounds of Library computers for promotions for up to one week at a time. Please read our policies and guidelines before submitting a display request.
A small number of iPads are available for checkout to Macalester students, staff, and faculty for a period of 7 days.
A small number of Kindle devices are available for checkout with a loan period of 3 weeks. Each comes with a carrying case and USB cable.
The library provides Dell PC laptops and MacBooks. Checkout for students is 3 hours and checkout for faculty and staff is 3 days.
The Presentation Practice Room, Library 303, can be reserved by current Macalester students, staff, and faculty and may be used to develop, practice or give presentations.
