Plant a Lilly (project) in your field (experience)!
Let the Lilly Project enhance your internship.
What is a Lilly Internship?
A Lilly Internship is a regular internship negotiated through the Internship Office with an enhanced reflection component. Lilly Interns meet over dinner several times over the course of the term to discuss and process their internship experiences in light of their understanding of self, work and vocation. These informal conversations allow participants to share individual stories, insights, and reactions as the group explores questions around personal values and ethics as related to the experience of the internship.
How will this enrich my internship experience?
This small conversation group of six allows you to share stories, struggles and new understandings gained from your internship.
It can provide emotional and cognitive support for facing the stresses of an internship.
It encourages you to step beyond an academic experience of work to explore deeper questions around everything from work relationships to ethical practices.
What is required?
- Maintain a journal throughout the term that helps track particular themes of the group.
- Attend four dinner meetings at the Alumni House.
- Be willing to engage in group discussions and share personal reactions/insights.
- Complete a small writing assignment in addition to your final project for your faculty sponsor that speaks to how the internship and the Lilly conversation group changed, challenged or enhanced your understanding of work and your identity as a person who works.
Lilly Internships are open to anyone from any discipline!
