Summer Fellows Program

The Lilly Summer Fellows program provides two students the opportunity to complete a community based project hosted at University Bank and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

These interns are provided a staff mentor for the summer projects, a stipidend and free summer housing in Kirk. Rising juniors and seniors at Macalester College are eligible.

  • University Bank offers an internship where a student will work to strengthen their socially responsible practices and outreach to the University Avenue neighborhood. Email for more information.
  • Westminster Presbyterian Church offers an internship working with youth and children and would provide practical experience for a student considering church ministry as a vocation.  Email for more information.

Each summer the Lilly Program awards students with opportunities to explore issues of work, ethics and vocation.  The following students spent their summer living in intentional community and living out commitments to environmental sustainability, social responsibility and vocational discernment.

Students live together in a campus house, engaging in community projects and research in line with their vocation, yet equally commit to learning, supporting, and being influenced by other students’ work for the broader common good.
