Lilly Senior Spring-Break Retreat
March 15 – March 20, 2008

The Whidbey Institute for Earth, Spirit and Community
 Whidbey Island, Washington

“ – a chance to pause before jumping off from Macalester.

Have you ever dreamed of taking five days to pause and consider where you have come from and where you are going?  Through a rigorous and competitive application process, ten Macalester seniors have been chosen to have this opportunity through the Seventh Annual Lilly Senior Retreat. These students are: Hector Pasual Alvarez, Raina Fox, Sonia Hazard, Jessie Light, Mara MacKinnon, Katyana Melic, Evan Mitchell, Hillary Mohaupt, Periangelo Rossi and Elissa Vinnik.

These students will come together for an opportunity for deeper listening – within themselves and among the group. They will leave as part of a community seeking perspective on how to lead lives of commitment and purpose for the common good in a complex and fragmented world.

The Lilly Project invites these students to this gracious space for guided discussions, experiential learning, and dialogue with local wise leaders.  They will spend informal time in intentional community with eachother and staff in the wooded, serene beauty of Whidbey Island, Washington.

This retreat includes:

  • Time to hike in old growth forests and on the beach
  • Opportunity to engage with Macalester peers who are facing a similar time of transition and decision-making.
  • Discussions with wise people from the west
  • Space to work with others to connect those values to decisions about work, as well as personal and public lives.
